Senior Automotive Design Engineer – Automotive, Stamping and Assembly

We’re looking for a Senior Automotive Design Engineer with Stamping, Cold Forming, Extrusion and In-Press Fastener Experience.
MUST HAVE: Extrusion Experience, In-Press Fastener Design and Tooling Launch Experience in Automotive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design and manufacturing efforts for stamped metal & aluminum parts
- Lead cost reduction initiatives related to tooling performance and efficiency
- Supports RFQ, lead technical discussions, cost modeling, stamping design
- Collaborate with customers, engineering, and production teams
- Manage and grow key accounts through proactive communications
- Participate in PPAP, APQP, launch programs and technical reviews
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions
- Support prototype builds and product launches (NPI)
- Champion ISO9001/2015/TS16949 systems and continuous improvement
- Manage direct and quality technicians and operations staffing accordingly for successful program launch
- Representing the company at customer visits, technical reviews, and industry shows
- Lead cost reduction initiatives related to tooling performance and efficiency
- Collaborate with production, quality, suppliers, and customers to maintain optimal tool performance
- Oversee engineering changes and implement tooling updates as needed
- Assist with new program launches and confirm production tools are ready.
- Drive corrective actions to improve life, reduce downtime, and increase uptime
- Monitor tooling costs, performance metrics, and overall manufacturing efficiency
- Provide technical guidance and support for tooling-related challenges across operations
- Manage tooling builds at outside die shops, including supplier selection, quoting, and project timelines
- Coordinate with external tool and die vendors to ensure tooling is built to engineering and quality specifications
- Conduct tooling build reviews, progress checks, and approval of design changes with outside die shops
- Track supplier performance, delivery schedules, and budget compliance for outsourced tooling projects
- Support tool tryouts, run-offs, and final approvals at outside die shops prior to production launch
✅ Requirements:
- BS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science or a related technical field, equivalent industry experience will be accepted
- Direct experience in cold forming, cold heading, metal extrusions and automotive fastener solutions is preferred
- Automotive experience Preferred with PPAP, APQP, AIAG, IATF16949, Stamping Die’s, Fastener Assembly Process.
- Full understanding in FMEA, control plans, inspection methods
- Strong communication, analysis, and problem-solving skills
- MUST HAVE previous experience in Metal Stamping and Assembly in OEM or Tier 1 Automotive

- Experience with Automotive OEM’s and / or Major Tier 1 Automotive Suppliers.
- Detailed and In-Depth understanding of fastener performance, applications engineering and in-press forming
- Proven Track Record and Abilit to influence customers design decisions and strategies with cost reduction methods
