Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Service Advisor / Writer to join our automotive service team. Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, establishing rapport and understanding their vehicle concerns
- Write detailed service descriptions and estimates, utilizing auto estimating skills and automotive repair knowledge
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding recommended services, repairs, and maintenance options
- Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, shocks & struts, diesel engine repairs, and other automotive diagnostics
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services
- Manage vehicle repair orders from start to finish, ensuring accuracy in documentation and parts ordering
- Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain proper records of customer payments
- Assist with vehicle inspections and diagnostics using mechanical knowledge and automotive diagnostics tools
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dealership services including auto body repair, air brake systems, transmissions, and other specialized areas
Requirements
- Prior dealership experience or auto service management background preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, and repairs such as brake repair, oil changes, alignments, suspension work, tire service, shocks & struts, diesel engine repair, and auto body repair
- Experience working with service technicians to facilitate repairs efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Ability to upsell services confidently while maintaining integrity and customer trust
- Familiarity with auto estimating software and automotive service writing procedures
- Knowledge of automobile sales processes is a plus but not required
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in handling service orders and cash handling responsibilities
- Automotive certifications or mechanic experience are advantageous but not mandatory
