Factory Controller
Location: Winsted, CT
Duration: Direct Hire – Onsite
Salary: $111,000–$125,000 DOE plus Excellent Benefits
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Factory Management to provide timely financial analysis, reporting, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to maximize factory performance.
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve profitability, working capital, asset turns, contribution margins, and overall operational performance.
- Lead the annual budgeting and planning process, establishing realistic financial targets and identifying risks, opportunities, and contingency plans.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure internal financial controls and procedures are effective, compliant, and consistently followed.
- Manage all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, product costing, and month-end closing.
- Analyze manufacturing and operational data to identify cost-reduction and profitability improvement opportunities.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives by tracking and validating financial savings.
- Provide financial oversight for capital investments, including business case analysis, strategy alignment, and tracking expected returns.
- Support quoting and new business opportunities by developing cost estimates, financial models, and profitability analysis.
- Coordinate financial data collection, analysis, and reporting across the factory and broader value chain.
- Support annual audits, tax requirements, financial controls, and other corporate finance activities.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reports for factory and corporate leadership.
- Provide financial controlling support for the Winsted Sales Unit.
- Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and work closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other functional teams.
- Communicate financial performance, risks, trends, and improvement opportunities to factory leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in business or factory controlling with a strong accounting background in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of standard cost accounting, manufacturing variances, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end closing.
- Ability to analyze complex financial and operational data and translate findings into clear recommendations for management.
- Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities to improve profitability, working capital, and manufacturing performance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel/MS Office skills.
- Experience with financial consolidation systems is beneficial.
- Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools such as Power BI is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with factory leadership and cross-functional manufacturing teams.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and spending time on the production floor.
- Aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing industry experience is beneficial.
