Engineering & Equipment Technician
Location: Wallingford, CT
Type: Direct Hire
Pay: $28.80–$32/hr., based on experience

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering & Equipment Technician to support automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment within a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on technical position focused on equipment troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, automation, and continuous improvement. The technician will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain equipment uptime and support manufacturing operations.
Equipment may include pick-and-place systems, liquid dispensing equipment, fluidics bonding equipment, inspection stations, and other automated and semi-automated manufacturing systems.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain automated and semi-automated production equipment
- Perform equipment repairs, component replacements, adjustments, and routine maintenance
- Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and assembly stations to minimize downtime
- Assist with creating and updating preventive maintenance procedures
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, motor, actuator, sensor, and automation-related equipment issues
- Work closely with operators and engineering teams to identify and resolve equipment and process problems
- Support equipment modifications, testing, validation, and process-improvement initiatives
- Train employees on equipment setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance activities and support audit requirements
- Assist with building and facility equipment maintenance when needed
- Adapt to changing production and maintenance priorities as required
- Provide occasional extended-hours or weekend coverage when necessary
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician, Equipment Technician, Engineering Technician, Electro-Mechanical Technician, or similar hands-on technical role
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical manufacturing equipment
- Experience with automated production or assembly equipment
- Hands-on experience with pneumatics, vacuum systems, motors, actuators, sensors, fixtures, and related automation components
- Strong preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting experience
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause troubleshooting abilities
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with production employees, technicians, and engineers
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLCs and automated control systems
- Familiarity with LabVIEW and Beckhoff
- Experience working with automated assembly equipment
- Knowledge of machining, molding, assembly, and material properties
- Experience within a cleanroom, medical device, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of GMP and ISO requirements
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline preferred
- Technical high school diploma combined with 3 years of relevant maintenance or equipment technician experience will also be considered
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work within production, laboratory, and cleanroom environments
- Ability to lift and handle equipment or materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to perform hands-on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting throughout the workday
Compensation & Benefits
