Description
We are seeking an experienced Document Control Manager to lead documentation activities within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. This position will manage a team of 5 direct reports and oversee the processing, control, accuracy, and release of technical and customer documentation supporting production.
The ideal candidate will have previous electronics manufacturing/EMS industry experience, strong document control experience, and demonstrated experience managing a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and support a team of 5 employees within the Documentation department
- Process and manage incoming customer documentation and electronic data
- Review documentation packages to ensure they are complete and accurate
- Manage Bills of Material (BOMs), CAD files, drawings, Gerber files, specifications, procedures, assembly instructions, programming instructions, and test documentation
- Communicate documentation issues, missing information, and discrepancies to Program Management and Engineering
- Support technical review activities and production readiness
- Prepare documentation and work instructions supporting manufacturing
- Enter and maintain Bills of Material within the MRP system
- Create and update job routings and workflow information
- Generate reports from MRP and manufacturing systems
- Process and distribute Quality Bulletins
- Manage customer Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Monitor manufacturing work-in-process and job status
- Maintain customer documentation and revision control
- Work closely with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, and Production teams
- Identify documentation or process issues and develop solutions to prevent production delays
- Help improve documentation processes and workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Previous document control experience within an electronics manufacturing, EMS, PCB/PCBA, or similar technical manufacturing environment
- Previous experience managing or supervising employees
- Strong understanding of Bills of Material, engineering drawings, specifications, ECOs, and technical documentation
- Experience working with MRP systems
- Experience with Gerber files and technical manufacturing data preferred
- Strong project planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Production
- Knowledge of electronic component identification preferred
- Experience with Aegis or similar shop-floor/manufacturing software preferred
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred
- Previous leadership experience within document control or technical manufacturing documentation required
- Electronics manufacturing industry experience required
Computer Skills
Experience with manufacturing and documentation software including:
- Microsoft Office
- MRP/ERP systems
- Aegis or similar manufacturing software
- Gerber tools/viewers
- PLM systems
- VBA experience is a plus
