Overview
The Engineering & Design Lead coordinates the activities of the engineering department at Top Metal Solutions' U.S. operation. This role ensures proper technical execution, metric compliance, and accurate work-order releases while supporting project profitability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the design and work-order release team, assigning priorities and workload.
- Review drawings, DXFs, geometric tolerances, and specifications under GD&T, AWS D1.1/D1.3, and OSHA.
- Prepare quotes and cost sheets ensuring margin protection and budget compliance.
- Participate in technical meetings with clients, follow up on projects, and support monthly closing activities.
- Control performance KPIs including accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement indicators.
- Support team development through evaluations and technical feedback.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials, processes, and production times.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and technical documentation requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Design Engineering, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in metal design or manufacturing.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, GD&T, AWS, and OSHA.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
