Overview

As a member of the TFA Fiduciary Team, the individual in this role will prepare detailed fiduciary accountings and draft estate and fiduciary tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws. This role gathers and monitors necessary information, coordinates transaction and asset reporting, and serves as a point of contact for tax-related matters. Additionally, this individual will manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility in taking on new challenges. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in financial analysis and industry software are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Independent Preparation of Fiduciary Accountings
    • Accuracy and Compliance: Ensure accountings are prepared accurately and comply with relevant fiduciary principles and legal requirements.
    • Validation and Verification: Conduct regular reviews and verification of financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Drafting Estate and Fiduciary Tax Returns
    • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, such as tax, legal and operations departments, to gather necessary information for tax returns.
    • Accuracy and Compliance: Ensure tax returns are prepared accurately and in compliance with federal, state, and tax laws.
    • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of tax-related activities and communications.
  • Accounting and Tax Matters Contact
    • Support and Expertise: Provide advice and support on various accounting and tax matters to internal and external professionals.
    • Timely Responses: Ensure inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately.
  • Workflow Management
    • Task Prioritization: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
    • Organization: Maintain an organized workflow to manage various responsibilities efficiently.
    • Progress Tracking: Track the progress of ongoing projects and adjust plans as necessary to ensure timely completion.
Additional Duties

  • Communication: Proactively maintain open lines of communication with internal and external professionals to facilitate timely information gathering.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to take on new challenges as they arise.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in continuous learning and improvement to enhance job performance.

Team Support: Provide support to team members as needed, contributing to a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ trust and estate-related experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with trust accounting systems and tax software applications, including Wall Street Concepts software and ONESOURCE™ Trust Tax, and ONESOURCE™ Fiduciary Accounting Software
  • Good technical experience in fiduciary accounting matters
  • Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills (oral and written) must be able to communicate effectively
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment. Analytically minded to conduct research and draw conclusions
  • Acute attention to detail and an ability to collect, organize and interpret large amounts of data and complex materials
  • Ability to gather and understand business requirements and develop creative solutions
