Tompkins County is seeking a dynamic Deputy Director of Finance to help lead and oversee the County’s Finance Department. This leadership role is responsible for supervising staff across Treasury, Purchasing, Accounting, and Payroll, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations, and supporting modern, efficient accounting systems.

The Deputy Director plays a critical role in developing policies, preparing budgets and financial reports, managing audits, and guiding the County’s fiscal strategy. This position also serves as acting Director of Finance in their absence.

We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented financial leader with strong communication, problem-solving, and supervisory abilities who is ready to make a meaningful impact in public service.

Salary: Hire Rate - $55.57/hr. / Work Rate - $58.49/hr.
