About the Role
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Accountant to support a fast-growing, private-equity-backed organization undergoing significant scale, system upgrades, and acquisition activity. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys building processes, and wants to grow into broader finance and operational responsibilities as the business expands.
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in month-end close, financial statement preparation, budgeting and forecasting, acquisition integration, and ongoing systems and automation initiatives. This is a high-visibility role with direct interaction across operations, FP&A, corporate leadership, and the PE sponsor.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting (40%)
- Lead and assist with the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, dashboards, and management reporting packages.
- Support consolidation activities across multiple sites, subsidiaries, and legal entities.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analytics (20%)
- Assist in annual budget development and periodic forecast updates.
- Partner with operations, sales, and finance leadership to understand key drivers and build scalable budgeting processes.
- Perform deep-dive financial analyses to explain trends, identify risks and opportunities, and support decision making.
Acquisition Support & Modeling (20%)
- Support acquisition financial modeling, including quality of earnings review, pro forma modeling, and scenario analysis.
- Assist with onboarding newly acquired entities, chart of accounts mapping, and data migration.
- Partner with leadership on post-close integration plans, financial reporting, and systems alignment.
Systems & Integrations (20%)
- Serve as a power user in NetSuite, supporting general ledger, fixed assets, AP/AR, revenue, and reporting modules.
- Participate in system optimization efforts to increase automation, accuracy, and speed.
- Support integrations between NetSuite and third-party systems (TRUX, Paychex/Insperity/Paylocity, banking platforms, CRM, etc.).
- Assist with the implementation of new tools, data connectors, and automations across the finance tech stack.
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
- Work closely with operations to ensure accurate cost allocations, inventory or materials reporting, and project/contract tracking.
- Partner with leaders across the business to enhance reporting visibility and align financial processes with operating needs.
- Support ad-hoc strategic initiatives, board reporting, and PE-driven special projects.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a private equity, multi-location, or growth-stage environment.
- Strong proficiency with NetSuite (or similar ERP).
- Solid understanding of US GAAP, financial statements, and month-end close.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, modeling concepts).
- Experience with financial modeling.
- High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and a builder’s mindset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities shift.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with data tools (Power BI, SQL, ETL, Celigo, etc.).
- Experience with acquisitions and integrations.
- Exposure to recycling, manufacturing, distribution, waste management, or services industry accounting.
- CPA or progress toward CPA (preferred but not required).
- Experience creating dashboards, operational KPIs, or multi-site financial reporting.
