Overview
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager/Assistant Estimator to join our construction team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support project planning, budgeting, and execution while gaining valuable experience in the construction industry. You will collaborate closely with senior management, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget. Your energy, organizational skills, and passion for construction will drive project success from inception through completion. This is a 40-hour-a-week job with no overnight travel involved.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing accurate construction estimates by analyzing project specifications, drawings, and bid documents using tools such as Planswift and Bluebeam.
- Support the development of project budgets, cost control measures, and pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather quotes, negotiate terms, and ensure competitive pricing.
- Contribute to the review and management of contracts, change orders, and project documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor project progress on-site and in the office to ensure adherence to schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Assist in tracking project costs, managing budgets, and preparing reports for stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with project managers on procurement activities, scheduling, and resource allocation to optimize project delivery.
Experience
- Previous experience or internship in construction estimating or project management is preferred but not required; a strong willingness to learn is essential. Bachelor's degree in Building Science or similar degree is required.
- Familiarity with construction estimating software.
- Knowledge of construction processes, site safety protocols, and contract administration enhances your effectiveness in this role.
- Strong negotiation skills help secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
- Experience with Bluebeam for document markup and collaboration is a plus.
