What are the responsibilities and job description for the LAUNDRY AIDE position at Tohono O'odham Nursing Care Authority?
GENERAL PURPOSE
Tends laundering machines to provide an adequate supply of clean linen and/or personal laundry to facility residents/patients and appropriate departments. Performs cleaning procedures of a maintenance and corrective nature.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS In addition to performing Essential Functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based upon the requirements of the organization
- Sort and load articles into washers.
- Start machines that automatically wash and rinse articles.
- Lift clean, wet articles from washer and place them into dryers for measured time cycles.
- Fold and coordinate cleaned laundry and linen.
- Distribute clean linen and/or personal laundry to appropriate residents/patients and departments following proper protocol.
- Clean and maintain the laundry and/or linen rooms.
- Maintain communication with contracted personnel responsible for maintenance of machines and chemicals.
- Demonstrate personal responsibility and respect for self and others.
- Adhere to all Department policies, procedures, and mandatory requirements.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with residents, patients, staff, guests, and family members.
- Follow all Infection Control practices, including hand washing techniques, standard precautions, isolation precautions, and safety precautions.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate excellence in customer service.
- Able to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
- Able to adjust to changing situation and needs.
- Participate in other duties, as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time, which employee is qualified for and can reasonably be expected to complete with minimal orientation.
- Maintain age specific safety precautions including:
- No small or sharp objects or tools that may injure residents/patients or visitors will be left out. Keep hallways and pathways clear of laundry carts.
- All staff is required to follow all safety regulations and precautions at all times.
- Staff must ensure that their Department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
- Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to immediate supervisor/manager
- Report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor/manager within 24hrs.
- All staff must wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and or blood/body fluids or when doing Hazardous work i.e. working with chemicals, electrical or day to day maintenance repairs.
- All Staff are required to participate in the Person Centered Care - Managers/Supervisors will help staff in assisting in participating in Person Centered Care.
QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must successfully complete the required training program within the defined probationary period
