LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE NE FT

GENERAL PURPOSE: Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons in such settings as hospitals, clinics, private homes, schools, sanitariums, and similar institutions by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In addition to performing Essential Functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based upon the requirements of the organization

1. Take and record patients’ vital signs.
2. Dress wounds; give enemas, douches, alcohol rubs and massages.
3. Apply compresses, ice bags and hot water bottles.
4. Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
5. Administer specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection, and note time and amount on resident chart.
6. Assemble and use such equipment as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen suppliers.
7. Collect samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
8. Sterilize equipment and supplies.
9. Prepare or examine food trays for prescribed diet and feed patients.
10. Record food and fluid intake and output.
11. Bathe, dress and assist patients in walking and turning.
12. Clean rooms make beds and answer patients’ calls.
13. Wash and dress bodies of deceased persons.
14. Inventories and requisitions supplies.
15. Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
16.  All staff is required to follow all safety regulations and precautions.
17. Staff must ensure that their department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
18. Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to immediate supervisor/manager
19. Report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor/manager within 24hrs.
20. All staff must wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and or blood/body fluids or when doing Hazardous work i.e., working with chemicals, electrical or day to day maintenance repairs.
21. All Staff are required to participate in the Person-Centered Care - Managers/Supervisors will help staff in assisting in participating in Person Centered Care.
22. Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts of your organization.
23. Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
24. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
25. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
26. Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization.
27. Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
28. Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude), including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.

OTHER:  Regular attendance in conformance with standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment due to the cyclical nature of the health care industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the facility. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with all applicable rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facility. Employees who violate the rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS: Current LPN license in the State of Arizona. Must be active and in good standing. CPR certification. IV initiation, maintenance, and phlebotomy, if previously certified or willingness to attend offsite training if provided by the Facility.
