What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Engineer position at Together for Talent?
Data Engineer | Early Hire
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Salary: $150-300k
Headquartered in New York, we are a booming healthtech software start-up building an AI‑native physical care platform, starting with home health, to remove the massive administrative waste that drags down US healthcare. Our AI automates back‑office work, letting us serve patients who currently go untreated while operating with meaningfully higher margins than traditional providers. We’ve brought together top AI talent (from leading tech and quantitative firms) and experienced healthcare operators to deliver care at the speed and scale of an AI company. Due to growth and demand for our product, we are urgently looking for Data Engineers to join the team!
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain end‑to‑end ETL/ELT pipelines that move data from source systems all the way through to analytics‑ready models.
- Own and evolve our modern data stack—including tools like Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake—with a focus on reliability, observability, and cost‑efficiency.
- Architect and maintain data platform and infrastructure components (orchestration, environments, CI/CD, monitoring) to keep everything running smoothly in production.
- Partner closely with data analysts, data scientists, and product teams to design clear, well‑modeled datasets that are easy to use.
Who You Are
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer owning end‑to‑end data pipelines and platforms, rather than primarily analytics or BI/reporting work.
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python (or a similar language) for building and maintaining production data workflows.
- Hands‑on experience with Airflow (or similar orchestrators), dbt, and Snowflake (or equivalent cloud data warehouses).
- A track record of building and operating production‑grade data infrastructure in high‑growth environments (e.g., fast‑scaling startups or similarly dynamic settings).
- Clear signals of excellence and high trajectory—such as top‑tier academic background, impactful work at high‑growth companies, or rapid scope increases over your career.
- A thoughtful approach to data modeling (e.g., dimensional/Star schemas) and working with semi‑structured data (JSON, APIs, event streams).
- Familiarity or interest in healthcare data (claims, clinical data, HL7/FHIR, EHR data) and its nuances.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills—you’re proactive, kind, and enjoy working closely with cross‑functional partners.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary ($150-300k DOE)
- Equity
- Comprehensive benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision)
- Flexible hybrid schedule
- Real ownership in a high-growth and cutting-edge environment
- High exposure, working closely with leadership
- Opportunity for growth: fast-track path to a strategic decision-making role for interested candidates
- Fun, professional, and innovative company culture
- Mission-driven vision to fix US healthcare systems
