What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Dispatcher position at Tofflemire Freight Service?
Schedule: Saturday & Sunday, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM (10-hour shifts)
Compensation: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our team on weekends. You'll be the backbone of our Saturday and Sunday operations, keeping shipments moving, drivers on track, and customers happy.
What You'll Do
You'll manage a team of 5-10 drivers, coordinating routes and assignments to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime. Day to day, you'll be tracking and tracing shipments, monitoring driver locations and progress throughout their routes, dispatching drivers in real time, and providing timely status updates to customers. You'll also handle data entry and maintain accurate records using spreadsheets. When something shifts, you're the one keeping everything on course.
What We're Looking For
Experience in trucking or airline logistics is required, candidates with experience in both will stand out. Beyond industry knowledge, the right person for this role is someone who brings strong attention to detail, clear and professional communication skills, and a track record of reliability. You should be comfortable with spreadsheets and capable of a minimum typing speed of 40 WPM for data entry tasks.
Qualifications
Experience in trucking and/or airline operations (both preferred)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Reliable and punctual — weekends are non-negotiable
Proficiency with spreadsheets and general data entry (40 WPM)
