DescriptionThe Pastry Assistant’s main functions are to assist in the planning and execution of the dessert menu. It is the Pastry Assistant’s responsibility that all desserts are consistent, meet company standards, and presented to guests in the highest level of quality.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Assist the Pastry Chef with the planning, planning and execution of the dessert menuAssist with the development of new designs and recipesTesting and tasting of recipesProperly following each recipe to company specificationsMeasurement and mixing of ingredientsRegulation of cooking temperaturesReplenishing station as neededNotifying Pastry Chef for low inventory itemsSetting time cycles for productsAssist in organizing all areas of the kitchen, maintain deliveries and cleanliness of areasWorking knowledge of all pastry assistant functions in the kitchenStation maintenance and cleanlinessAdhere to standard “zoning” proceduresFollow strict health and hygiene standardsSafely and efficiently use kitchen tools and equipmentResponsible for following HAACP guidelines set by BOH managementPromote teamwork and interact with employees in a fair and professional mannerMaintain knowledge and practice the company’s mission and vision, policies and procedures, and employee handbookCreate and maintain a positive, safe and healthy work environmentBe a role model and lead by example in terms of professionalism, positive attitude, taking initiative, work ethic, work performance, etc.Other duties as assignedQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
