JOB TITLE: Substitute Custodian
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision performs a variety of custodial duties and general care of school building(s) and surrounding grounds to ensure a safe and clean school building for students, staff and community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a thorough working knowledge of custodial work, gained in at least six months of experience, and/or a combination of education and experience.
- Criminal history clearance (background and HB 2062).
- Previous experience working in a sanitation or custodial position preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
- Cleans areas as assigned (i.e. rooms, halls, offices, rest rooms, cafeteria, etc.), vacuums, shampoos, sweeps, scrubs, waxes, polishes, mops and buffs all types of floor surfaces.
- Washes windows, white boards, walls, doors and baseboards.
- Cleans and polishes furniture, windows, metal work and computer screens.
- Maintains indoor and outdoor lighting.
- Keeps walks, parking areas, grounds and entrances clear and clean of debris.
- Washes, scrubs and disinfects restrooms and locker rooms as well as cleans sinks, fixtures, panels and drinking fountains daily.
- Checks and stocks bathroom supplies.
- Reacts to change in schedule(s) productively.
- Cleans up spills (including bodily fluids) in a safe and appropriate manner, picks up trash and responds to special requests for custodial services from staff members with supervisor approval.
- Sets up, takes down and moves tables, chairs, equipment, shelving and partitions for meetings, athletic events and other District needs, as assigned.
- Unlocks doors and windows, turns on lights and prepares buildings for start of day and/or locks doors and windows, turns off lights and secures buildings at end of day.
- Empties and cleans waste containers.
- Sets and maintains temperature control in assigned building.
- Maintains building security.
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary as per negotiated contract. Code 10 - $21.27-24.53 per hour. Accrues sick time per ORS 653 guidelines (1 hour sick time earned for every 30 hours worked). Open until filled
