Position Purpose:
The Principal serves as the instructional and operational leader of a school, responsible for establishing a safe, supportive, and high-performing learning environment that promotes student achievement and staff development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional leadership to improve student achievement across all grade levels
- Supervise, evaluate, and support all certified and classified staff
- Establish and maintain a positive school culture focused on student success and high expectations
- Ensure student safety and appropriate supervision at all times
- Develop and manage the school budget, master schedule, and daily operations
- Implement and monitor effective discipline policies and procedures
- Use data to guide instructional decisions and school improvement efforts
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and the community
- Support professional growth and development of all staff
- Collaborate with central office and community partners to enhance school programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher
- Valid North Carolina Principal (012) license
- Successful experience as an assistant principal or school administrator preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of K–12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Ability to lead school improvement and manage change effectively
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and foster collaboration
- Knowledge of school law, policy, and compliance requirements
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
