Curriculum Specialist
Job Title: Curriculum Specialist
Reports to: Chief Academic Officer
Dept./Campus: Curriculum & Instruction
Classification: Exempt
Primary Purpose:
Provide curriculum leadership and support classroom teaching to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program in the subject area assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university with a major in assigned subject
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Five years teaching experience in subject area assigned
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Staff Development
- Work collaboratively with the Curriculum & Instruction department to provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in designated subject area.
- Support the continuous improvement of instruction through relationship development and collaborative problem solving with instructional staff.
- Work with instructional leadership and teaching staff to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
- Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
Instructional Strategies
- Collaborate and plan with teaching teams to implement curriculum and to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to student learning.
- Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in assigned subject area.
- Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
- Collaborate with instructional and technology leadership to effectively utilize technology to strengthen the instruction and learning process.
- Oversee testing programs for the assigned subject area and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate.

- Convey information to parent and community members about school programs.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
- Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
- Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
- Support and follow administrative and Board policy.
- Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way.

Salary : $62,654 - $91,097
