SUMMARY:

Provide assistance and engineering support to all levels of employees and management by participating in and completing projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø – Must follow all shop safety rules and those of any devices assigned. Must be able to communicate Safety concerns with new processes and equipment. Must stress Safety in all training activities. Must be able to recognize safety issues with current and new equipment and be able to communicate it with written and oral instructions.

Ø – Must work in a Team environment and communicate effectively to all levels and with customers as needed. Must maintain an open mind and effectively listen. Objectiveness is required.

Ø – Provides training on new and established processes for all areas assigned. Must be able to generate and organize training materials specific to the task.

Ø – Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design and or process meet functional and performance specifications. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures and manuals as assigned and participate in problem solving and corrective action implementation. Understands the various materials customers require and their special requirements.

Ø – Must prioritize assigned work to ensure that commitments to internal and external customers are met.

Ø – Assists in the development of strategies and programs that improve the productivity and costs of the various work processes of the company. Assist with installation of equipment to insure proper installation and operation according to specifications.

Ø – Assists in the evaluation of current processes, work flows, cycle times and value added/non-value-added costs to determine Best Practice and initiate improvement changes.

Ø – As directed, assist Department Managers with Continual Improvement Teams and activities. Working with a Team as Lead or a participant and be a positive influence to the success of the team.

Ø – Must be cognizant of the costs of processing and estimating cost savings from improvement activities.

Ø – Assist with analysis of metric results for opportunities for improvements.

Ø Travel may be required from time to time.

Ø Must work in a hands-on shop floor environment

Ø Must be able to work flexible work schedule from time to time. Various shift work may be required.

Ø Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not have any direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and write in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of assocaites.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply basic reasoning skills. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and heat. The noise level outside the office environment is loud and requires hearing protection at all times. Steel toe safety shoes and safety glasses are required in the manufacturing area.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required:

A degree in Engineering discipline is required.

Computer Skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office including spreadsheets, word processing andinternet sowtward. CAD skills helpful.

Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5s, Six Sigma CADD, CNC, SPC and IBM AS400 is desirable.
