We are seeking an experienced Chief Design Engineer to lead and drive engineering execution for complex defense programs. This role will serve as the primary engineering representative to business leadership and oversee engineering strategy, program delivery, and technical execution across multiple customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams
• Manage engineering execution across cost, schedule, and technical objectives
• Drive successful program delivery from development through low-rate production
• Partner closely with program leadership and stakeholders
• Oversee engineering metrics, risk management, program baselines, and systems engineering processes
• Support bid/proposal activities including technical volume writing and BOE reviews
• Present technical briefings to internal and external stakeholders
Must-Have Qualifications:
• *** Active DoD Secret Clearance, which requires US Citizenship ***
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 15 years’ experience transitioning development programs through qualification to low-rate production
• Good working knowledge of Control Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value Management, Risk and opportunity management, as well as understanding and reporting of engineering metrics
• Bid/Proposal experience including technical volume writing and BOE review and approval
• Program baselining experience including review and approval of WBSs, work packages, Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and budgets
• Working knowledge and experience implementing disciplined System Engineering Processes
• Experience presenting high-stakes technical briefs to internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Experience:
• Design for Excellence (DfX), especially Design for Manufacturability (DfM)
• Undersea/Subsea Systems and Optical Systems expertise
• Fixed-price and international defense development programs
• DoD development program execution
• Engineering functional management experience
• Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
Salary : $200,000 - $240,000
