Material Handler

The material handler is responsible for the movement, storage, and tracking of materials and products within a warehouse, factory, or distribution center. Key duties include loading and unloading shipments, operating equipment like forklifts, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring the efficient and safe flow of materials. Material handlers are vital to the supply chain, working to move goods from production to delivery while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and Unloading: Securely loading goods onto trucks for delivery and unloading incoming shipments
• Material Handling: Safely moving, organizing, and storing various materials and products using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Inventory Management: Cataloging, tracking, and documenting inventory levels, ensuring accurate records and processing returns.
• Order Fulfillment: Retrieving items from shelves and packaging them for shipment as orders are placed.
• Quality Control: Performing basic checks on items to ensure quality and accuracy before they are shipped or stored.
• Record Keeping: Documenting deliveries, transactions, and inventory status, often using warehouse management software.
• Safety Compliance: Adhering to all safety guidelines and maintaining a clean and organized work area.  

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Equipment Operation: Experience operating a Crown stand-up forklift.
• Inventory Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial for managing inventory effectively.
• Physical Stamina: The ability to lift heavy items and perform repetitive tasks is essential.
• Teamwork & Communication: Working effectively as part of a team and communicating with supervisors and colleagues.
• Technical Skills: Basic computer skills for managing inventory records and using warehouse software.
• Pace: The work environment is often fast paced, demanding, and physically demanding, requiring stamina and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
