United Aluminum Corporation is a 5th-generation, family-owned specialty rolling mill producing Custom Rolled® Aluminum Coil in North Haven, Connecticut. Our modern and clean manufacturing facility is conveniently located off I-91.

Our team is growing, and we have an immediate opportunity for a Materials Purchasing Coordinator to join our valued materials purchasing department. This is a full-time, on-site position in North Haven, Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

Working closely with the Senior Materials Manager, you will help ensure adequate raw materials are available to reliably meet current and anticipated production requirements and customer needs.

To be successful in this position, you should bring strong purchasing and critical-thinking skills, raw-materials knowledge, supply-chain business acumen, proficiency working within ERP systems, and the ability to anticipate needs and proactively prevent inventory shortages.

United Aluminum utilizes a proprietary ERP system that supports our business and manufacturing processes. Your onboarding and training will include learning this system while developing a strong understanding of our business processes, internal manufacturing capabilities, role in the supply chain, and our vendors’ capabilities and product lines. As you become acclimated to the role and our operation, you will have an active voice in purchasing and inventory-management decisions.

Responsibilities

· Communicate with raw-material suppliers regarding purchase-order placement, lead times and delivery status.

· Ensure timely and effective interdepartmental communication with Sales, Accounting, Production Control, Quality Control, Process and Receiving regarding issues related to metal purchasing.

· Work with customs brokers and international freight forwarders on the import and delivery of overseas materials.

· Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.

· Manage vendor rejections from initiation and material disposition through credit and final resolution.

· Review vendor sales-order acknowledgements for accuracy against purchase orders placed.

· Participate in vendor meetings and communicate with members of the Vendor Committee and vendors as necessary.

· Coordinate activities and documentation associated with ISO 9001.

Guiding Qualifications

· Degree preferred; however, relevant education, training and demonstrated purchasing or manufacturing experience will be strongly considered. Coursework or experience in Supply Chain, Business, Mathematics or Accounting is especially relevant.

· Purchasing experience, preferably involving raw materials, metals or a manufacturing environment.

· Experience working within an ERP system and the ability to learn United Aluminum’s proprietary system.

· Familiarity with trade laws, tariffs, Incoterms and international freight forwarding.

· Strong time-management, multitasking and organizational skills.

· Excellent analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

· Proactive approach with the ability to anticipate material requirements and follow issues through to resolution.

· High degree of accuracy, reliability and attention to detail.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams.

· Ability to work on-site in North Haven Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

Total Rewards

Annual Salary Range: $90,000–$100,000

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
