Position Overview
TJ Office Furniture is seeking a dependable, hands-on Commercial Furniture Installer to support the delivery, assembly, and installation of office furniture for small to mid-sized commercial projects, typically serving offices with 50 employees or fewer. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with tools, solving problems, and providing excellent customer service.
Installers are responsible for creating a professional customer experience by ensuring furniture is delivered, assembled, and installed safely, accurately, and efficiently. When not working at customer locations, installers play an important role in warehouse operations by preparing furniture for upcoming projects, organizing inventory, assisting customers with pickups, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment.
This position is well-suited for individuals with experience using hand tools and power tools in construction, carpentry, furniture installation, warehouse operations, or related trades who take pride in quality workmanship and being part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
· Furniture Installation: Load, deliver, assemble, and install office furniture including cubicles, workstations, private office furniture, height-adjustable desks, seating, conference tables, storage products, and ancillary furniture according to project specifications and layout plans.
· Technical Execution: Read and interpret floor plans, installation drawings, assembly instructions, and furniture specifications to ensure accurate and efficient installations.
· Warehouse Support: When not on installation projects, assist with receiving, organizing, staging, cleaning, and preparing inventory for upcoming sales and installations. Help load customer pickups and maintain an organized warehouse environment.
· Quality Workmanship: Perform installations with a high level of attention to detail, ensuring all furniture is assembled correctly, fully functional, level, secure, and free from damage.
· Customer Service: Represent TJ Office Furniture professionally at customer locations. Communicate respectfully with customers, coworkers, and supervisors while delivering an outstanding installation experience.
· Job Site Management: Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment. Remove packaging materials, trash, and debris, leaving customer spaces move-in ready upon project completion.
· Tool & Equipment Operation: Safely operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, furniture dollies, and other equipment used in warehouse and installation operations.
· Safety & Compliance: Follow all company safety policies and procedures while working in the warehouse, on delivery routes, and at customer job sites. Use proper lifting techniques and maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety.
· Teamwork & Reliability: Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects on time, support warehouse operations, and contribute to an efficient, positive work environment.
Requirements
· Relevant Experience: Previous experience in commercial furniture installation is preferred. Experience with manufacturers such as HON, AIS, Tayco, Haworth, Steelcase, Herman Miller, or similar office furniture systems is a plus. Candidates with backgrounds in construction, carpentry, cabinet installation, remodeling, equipment assembly, moving services, or warehouse operations are encouraged to apply.
· Tool Proficiency: Must have current or recent experience regularly using hand tools and power tools in a professional environment. Ability to safely and effectively use drills, impact drivers, screw guns, tape measures, levels, socket sets, and other installation tools.
· Driving & Transportation: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. Experience driving box trucks, delivery vehicles, or commercial vehicles is preferred. Training will be provided as needed.
· DOT Eligibility: Ability to obtain and maintain a Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Card) for operating company vehicles.
· Warehouse & Equipment Experience: Forklift experience is preferred. Willingness to obtain forklift certification if not currently certified.
· Physical Requirements: Ability to safely lift, carry, move, and assemble office furniture in warehouse and customer environments. Must be able to lift and maneuver furniture weighing 75 pounds or more with assistance and work indoors, outdoors, and on stairways in varying weather conditions.
· Mechanical Aptitude: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to read installation instructions, furniture layouts, and assembly drawings. Ability to troubleshoot and make field adjustments as needed.
· Professionalism & Customer Service: Strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude. Ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and vendors while representing TJ Office Furniture.
· Teamwork & Dependability: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.

Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Occasional Saturdays required based on project needs
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $23.00 – $26.00 per hour (Depending on experience)
