Maintenance positions are hourly positions with cross-functional responsibility to lead and support hourly crew members by repairing & maintaining production equipment, motors, electrical control system, pumps, air compressor, mechanical and hydraulic presses, and other machines used in the manufacturing facility. This multi-craft maintenance position can be assigned to any mechanical or electrical projects to support the successful and continuous operations.
The Maintenance Apprenticeship is an entry-level position with the pay rate tying to length of time in position. After at least one year of successful performance and employment, apprentices can apply for a Maintenance I position. The Maintenance II positions are awarded based on skill-level and successful performance and employment as a Maintenance I employee. Maintenance III and IV are specialized skill positions that are awarded based on job knowledge, experience, and qualifications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintenance I

Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly
-
Inspect, operate, and/or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions
-
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blue prints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary
-
Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment
-
Inspect, repair and/or replace equipment parts, including but not limited to: drives, motors, belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions
-
Safely operate switching procedures on high voltage circuits, high frequency motor generator unions, maintain circuit breakers, repair and maintain batteries and chargers
-
Perform inspections of equipment

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearing, gears, or other parts of machinery
-
Reports to management any irregularities in quality and on equipment needing repair, malfunctioning safety devices maintenance, or adjustments
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Boiler Operator
-
Operate, start up, and shut down boiler based on Standard Work Procedures and following all legal requirements of boiler operation

Assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting machines and presses
-
Adjust machines and presses for optimal performance and efficiency
-
Document problems, resolves issues when possible, and follows up with the appropriate resource groups to ensure problems are corrected

Participate in ongoing Continuous Improvement projects and Kaizen teams
-
Ensure all daily paperwork is accurate, complete and ready to process
-
Work with maintenance on machine upgrades and repairs
-
Replace lamps throughout the plant
-
Help with lubrication on bearings, chains, and gearboxes

Repair minor plumbing problem
-
Work with maintenance on facility upkeep

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: All Maintenance Employees

The employee should have the following:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Manufacturing experience preferred but not required, candidate will be trained for this position in-house

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting production and quality goals

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid forklift or equipment license as needed or required

Any lifting over 70 lbs. must be completed with assistance through mechanical or individual associate

Certain tasks and positions required a Fork Lift Certification
