Role Overview
The Sales/Market Analyst supports commercial and operational decision-making by analyzing sales, market, and project data. This role focuses on demand trends, construction activity, pricing dynamics, and customer performance to drive revenue growth, optimize margins, and improve forecasting accuracy across regions and product lines (Ready Mix and Block).
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and interpret sales, pricing, and volume data across concrete products.
- Follow and report from industry lead sources such as Dodge, Construct connect, Zonda, ACA and others.
- Monitor key drivers including construction activity, infrastructure projects, and market demand trends.
- Develop weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for sales leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain dashboards and KPIs in CRM and BI tools (e.g., Dynamics, Power BI, Tableau, Domo), ensuring visibility into volume, revenue, and margin performance.
Forecasting & Planning
- Support the development of sales forecasts, demand planning, and quota setting by region and product line.
- Prepare and manage forecasted pipeline reports, including project-based demand and backlog visibility.
- Analyze historical sales, seasonality, and construction cycles to improve forecast accuracy.
- Partner with sales and operations teams to align forecasts with plant capacity, logistics constraints, and market conditions.
Performance Insights
- Conduct win/loss analysis on bids and contracts, including large construction and infrastructure projects.
- Evaluate territory performance, pricing trends, and product mix to identify growth opportunities.
- Analyze market share using quoting activity, competitor positioning, and regional demand indicators.
- Assess customer performance, including order patterns, delivery efficiency, equipment utilization, job site cycle times and cancellation rates.
- Added value reporting and performance tracking by sales representative, sales manager, region, and project.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve pricing strategies, customer segmentation, and sales effectiveness.
Process Optimization & Sales Support
- Optimize CRM usage (e.g. tracking projects, bids, and customer interactions) and ensure high data integrity.
- Improve reporting automation and streamline data workflows across sales and operations systems.
- Support sales operations with tools, insights, and standardized processes for project tracking and pipeline management.
Functional Team Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Finance on revenue forecasting, margin analysis, and budgeting.
- Partner with Marketing to evaluate campaign effectiveness, lead generation, and specification-driven sales.
- Support Sales Managers to generate specific market requirements on a regional level
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel, data modeling, and BI tools.
- Experience with CRM platforms (Microsoft Dynamics preferred) and large datasets.
- Understanding of construction or building materials markets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence business decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in sales operations, revenue operations, or commercial analytics within construction or building materials industry.
- Familiarity with forecasting methodologies tied to construction cycles and infrastructure spending.
