TITLE: Preschool Teacher
REPORTS TO: Person designated by the Board or the superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certificate, license, or other legal credential required.
2. Education Degree(s) required an early childhood and/or early childhood special education endorsement
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
JOB GOAL: To devise and implement programs for students who have neurological or other developmental delays that prevent them from learning through traditional methods.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets with professional staff members to discuss individual programs to be designed for children who will receive regular classroom instruction.
- Provide specially designed instruction for students that have an IEP
- Provides a core preschool program for students consistent with state education code requirements.
- Confers frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social and personal problems of each student.
- Assists in screening and evaluation of students.
- Provides motivation to all students.
- Evaluates the progress of each child enrolled in the program.
- Acts as liaison between support personnel, administrators, classroom teachers, parents and other professionals.
- Keeps parents informed of their children's progress.
- Undertakes continuing professional study in the psychology of the developmentally delayed students and related teaching methods.
- Keeps attendance records and all other records pertinent to the Early Childhood Special Education program for state reports.
EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
