Role Description The Asphalt Paving Foreman is a full-time, on-site role located in Estill Springs, TN. This role oversees daily paving operations, including organizing crews, scheduling tasks, and coordinating with supervisors, truck drivers, and equipment operators to complete projects safely and on time. The foreman monitors work quality, grades, thickness, and finish of asphalt, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning work areas, directing the operation of paving and compaction equipment, resolving site issues, and maintaining accurate daily reports such as quantities, crew hours, and equipment usage. The foreman also participates in pre-job briefings, enforces safety policies, trains crew members, and supports routine maintenance and housekeeping of tools, trucks, and machinery.
Qualifications
- Strong supervisory skills, including crew leadership, task delegation, and on-site decision-making.
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment commonly used in asphalt paving (e.g., pavers, rollers, skid steers, loaders).
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with crew members, contractors, inspectors, and management.
- Basic construction and carpentry-related abilities helpful for layout, forms, and minor concrete or woodwork as needed.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and support minor repairs or adjustments.
- Previous experience as an asphalt foreman, paving lead, or similar role in roadway or site construction preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction safety standards and commitment to a safe jobsite.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the Estill Springs, TN jobsite.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant industry training or certifications (e.g., OSHA, equipment operation) are a plus.
