Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorative, endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are ready for patient care.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines while adhering to infection prevention management protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments with aseptic technique and four-handed dentistry practices to optimize procedure efficiency.
- Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation for patients requiring medical history updates or medical coding.
- Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices to promote long-term dental wellness.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar patient management software.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics.
- Experience with dental sterilization procedures and infection control standards to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Skilled in dental instrument processing, sterilization techniques, and infection prevention management.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools effectively.
- Familiarity with medical documentation practices including medical records management and medical coding.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with patients as a dental receptionist when needed and provide outstanding patient care.
