What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Specialist — Aerospace/Defense CNC Manufacturing position at Tinker Manufacturing?
Looking for something more than the same repetitive job every day?
Tinker Manufacturing is a growing precision CNC manufacturing company serving the aerospace, defense, aviation, and commercial industries.
We are looking for a Production Specialist to join our team in Bedford, NH.
This is not a repetitive production-line position where you stand in one place doing the same task all day.
The Production Specialist works throughout our manufacturing operation and helps keep jobs moving from raw material all the way through machining, finishing, inspection, and shipment. Depending on the day, you may be operating CNC equipment, cutting material for an upcoming job, deburring precision components, preparing finished parts for shipment, receiving material, or helping organize the shop for the next production run.
If you like variety, working with your hands, learning new skills, and seeing how things are actually made, this could be a great opportunity.
What You'll Do
Your responsibilities will grow as you learn, but will include:
- Operate CNC machines on established production jobs
- Learn basic CNC machine operation, tooling, offsets, and inspection
- Cut and prepare raw material for upcoming jobs
- Deburr and clean precision machined components
- Use basic measuring equipment to verify parts
- Package finished aerospace and defense components for shipment
- Assist with shipping and receiving
- Receive, identify, and organize incoming material
- Stage material, tooling, and jobs for production
- Maintain material identification and traceability
- Help keep machines and production areas clean and organized
- Assist machinists, quality personnel, and other team members as needed
- Learn how a precision manufacturing company operates from start to finish
This Position Has Room to Grow
We don't expect the person we hire to remain a Production Specialist forever.
This position provides exposure to CNC machining, quality inspection, shipping/receiving, materials, production planning, and the overall manufacturing process.
As you demonstrate ability and learn the business, there are opportunities to develop toward positions such as:
CNC Machine Operator → CNC Setup / Machinist
Quality Technician → Quality Inspector
Shipping & Receiving → Production / Operations
We're a growing company, which means employees who demonstrate reliability, initiative, technical ability, and a willingness to learn can earn additional responsibility as the company grows.
At Tinker, advancement is based on what you can learn and what you can do—not simply how long you've been here.
Who We're Looking For
Manufacturing experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.
We're primarily looking for someone who:
- Shows up consistently and on time
- Enjoys working with their hands
- Likes variety rather than doing one repetitive task all day
- Takes pride in doing things correctly
- Pays attention to detail
- Is comfortable learning new equipment and processes
- Can follow written instructions and drawings
- Is willing to ask questions and learn
- Can work independently once trained
- Wants an opportunity to develop into something more
Experience with CNC machines, machine shops, manufacturing, mechanical work, shipping/receiving, automotive work, fabrication, construction, or other hands-on environments is a plus.
