ABOUT THE ROLE
Clay Hub is a working ceramics studio in the heart of South Boulder — a community-centered space with both a teaching studio and a membership studio. The Studio Tech is the engine that keeps both spaces running. This is a hands-on, task-driven role for someone who knows ceramics, works efficiently, and takes real satisfaction in a clean, well-functioning studio.
This is not a passive role. We're looking for someone who moves with purpose, completes tasks without being prompted, and understands that a smoothly run studio directly supports the experience of every member, student, and instructor who walks through the door.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Daily studio opening & closing
- Walk through and prepare both the teaching and membership studios at the start and end of each shift
- Ensure the space is clean, tidy, and ready for students and members
Open Access proctoring (teaching studio)
- Lightly proctor Open Access sessions for students while continuing studio tech work, such as cleaning, clay recycling, or kiln loading/unloading
- Be a calm, helpful presence during Open Access hours
- Monday–Wednesday: 10am–2pm | Thursday: 12:45–2:45pm
- Reset the teaching studio after Open Access ahead of afternoon classes at 3:30pm
Clay recycling
- Manage daily clay recycling across both studios, following an established process and schedule
Kiln operations
- Load and unload kilns according to an ongoing schedule
- Sort and bag finished student pottery for pickup
General studio maintenance
- Keep both studios clean, stocked, and functioning throughout your shift
- Laundry, trash, recycling, bathroom cleaning, and other recurring studio tasks
- Communicate proactively about any studio needs or issues
WHO YOU ARE
- You have working knowledge of ceramics — kiln operation, clay recycling, and studio workflow are familiar territory
- You’re a fast, efficient worker who takes pride in completing tasks well and on time
- You manage your time well within a defined schedule and don’t need to be redirected to stay on task
- You see what needs doing and do it — without waiting to be asked
- You enjoy physical, hands-on work and find real satisfaction in a clean, well-run space
- You’re reliable, on time, and consistent
- You can hold a calm, professional presence around students and members while staying focused on your work

We want to be upfront about something specific to this role: this position does not include studio membership or additional studio access beyond class credits. Team members receive class credits to use toward classes or workshops at Tinker Art Studio or Clay Hub — and when participating as a student, they’re treated just like any other student, fully separate from their work role. This keeps the boundary between work and creative time healthy and clear.
