Job Title: Senior Ocean Logistics Manager
Company: TimberEye
Location: United States (Remote with travel as needed)
Employment Type: Full-Time
About TimberEye
TimberEye technology based international import/export operation focused on scaling efficient, compliant, and cost-optimized timber and wood product supply chains. We operate across multiple continents, managing sourcing, freight, compliance, and delivery into international markets.
We are not looking for a coordinator. We are hiring an operator who can own ocean logistics end-to-end and eliminate inefficiencies.
Role Overview
The Senior Ocean Logistics Manager will take full ownership of TimberEye’s ocean freight operations. This includes direct SSL carrier strategy, cost control, routing optimization, port execution, and compliance across international lanes.
You will be expected to identify weaknesses, fix them quickly, and build scalable systems — not just manage vendors. This is a senior position with minimum 5-7 years of direct steamship line interface experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Own all ocean freight operations from origin to final foreign delivery
- Negotiate and manage contracts with direct ocean carriers
- Optimize routing, transit times, and cost structures across global lanes
- Manage port operations, drayage coordination, and inland logistics handoffs
- Ensure compliance with U.S. import/export regulations (CBP, ISF, AMS, AES etc.)
- Monitor and resolve delays, demurrage, detention, and port congestion issues
- Build and refine SOPs for logistics execution and reporting
- Coordinate with insurance companies to manage proper ocean cargo insurance policies
- Develop KPI for cost, transit time, and performance tracking
- Collaborate with sourcing and operations teams to align logistics with inventory strategy
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years in ocean freight / international logistics
- Direct experience managing FCL/LCL shipments across multiple global lanes
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import compliance and documentation
- Proven experience negotiating freight rates and contracts
- Deep understanding of port operations, drayage, and intermodal logistics
- Experience reducing logistics costs and improving delivery reliability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in timber, building materials, or heavy commodities
- Existing carrier network
- Experience working in high-growth or operationally complex environments
- Experience moving moving high TEU volumes (over 1000x40' / month)
Compensation
- Competitive base salary (based on experience)
- Performance-based incentives tied to cost savings and execution metrics
Why This Role
This is a high-impact role with direct control over a critical function of the business. If you are used to operating at a high level and want real ownership — this is the job.
If you need structure, heavy oversight, or slow decision cycles, this is not the right role.
