About the Role
Tijerina Legal Group is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role handles day-to-day accounting operations — data entry, accounts payable, and record maintenance — while supporting budget tracking, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate brings a bachelor's degree in accounting, 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, and 5 years working with QuickBooks Online, along with advanced Excel skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft 365. Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication, sharp attention to detail, and a proactive, team-oriented work ethic are essential, as this position also supports compliance with trust accounting and regulatory requirements.
The main objective for this role is to assist the Controller, using strong financial skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information of financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Entry: Input financial data into accounting software accurately and efficiently.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, including invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Accounts Payable: Assist in processing invoices, issuing payments, and reconciling accounts.
- Budget Support: Support the Controller in budget vs. actual tracking by Section, flagging variances above defined thresholds.
- Compliance Check: Assist in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare recurring reports, data extracts, and variance analysis feeding the firm’s financial reporting and dashboards.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle general administrative duties such as filing and scanning documents.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and applicable trust accounting and regulatory requirements.
Must-have qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 5 years of hands-on accounting experience.
- 5 years of QuickBooks Online experience required.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, data cleanup).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite
- Bilingual (English – Spanish).
- Strong Attention to Detail and organization skills required. (Assessments will be given)
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic with excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.

Benefits and Compensation:
- Salary is $60,000 and a Performance Based Compensation of up to $3,000.00 per Quarter.

- Vacation will accrue at a rate of 0.75 days per month for the first year (9 days per year) and at a rate of 1.16 thereafter (14 days per year)
