WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:
To ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions within the bakery operation, supporting production, procurement, and distribution activities. The Bookkeeper plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity, managing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
What You Will Do
Transaction Processing & Financial Recordkeeping
- Capture daily financial transactions related to bakery operations, including raw materials, packaging, and production costs.
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and cost allocations.
- Ensure all transactions are supported by valid documentation (GRVs, invoices, delivery notes).
- Assist in maintaining accurate cost centres aligned to plant departments.
- Process supplier invoices for ingredients, consumables, maintenance, and logistics services.
- Perform 3-way matching (Purchase Order, GRV, Invoice).
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies with procurement and stores.
- Ensure payments align with agreed terms and internal controls.
- Assist with customer invoicing where applicable.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions within the group.
- Support resolution of claims, returns, or pricing queries.
- Work closely with Stores and Production to reconcile stock movements.
- Assist with weekly and monthly inventory reconciliations.
- Investigate variances between system stock and physical counts.
- Support costing of raw materials and wastage tracking.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and clear reconciling items.
- Maintain accurate cashbook records.
- Monitor unusual transactions and escalate where necessary.
- Prepare and post journals (accruals, prepayments, provisions).
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure audit readiness.
- Support plant finance reporting deadlines.
- Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and audit standards.
- Maintain compliance with VAT, SARS requirements, and company policies.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required schedules.
- Ensure proper record retention in line with governance standards
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Diploma / Certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance.
- ICB / AAT or equivalent qualification advantageous.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ bookkeeping experience, preferably in a manufacturing, FMCG, or production environment.
- Experience working with high-volume transactions and stock-driven operations.
- Exposure to cost centres, inventory accounting, and reconciliations.
