Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor and record vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure residents' health status is maintained
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed instructions and document all medication administration in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care strategies to promote safety and comfort
- Provide companionship and social engagement to enhance residents’ emotional well-being and reduce feelings of isolation
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning resident areas and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
- Support emergency procedures including first aid response when needed, ensuring residents’ safety at all times
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to develop personalized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding for residents requiring nutritional support or special diets
- Operate group home or personal care home equipment safely and effectively to support residents’ mobility and daily routines
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or home & community care settings is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and behavior management techniques
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support
- Familiarity with vital signs measurement, medication administration, and basic nursing procedures
- Hands-on experience using EMR systems for documentation purposes
- Long-term care experience that emphasizes compassionate caregiving in senior or retirement home settings
- Ability to operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts safely and confidently
- Valid driver’s license preferred for roles involving transportation or driving responsibilities
