What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biologist position at TIERRA RIGHT OF WAY SERVICES LTD?
Tierra Right of Way Services is seeking 2 Field Biologists (Full or Part-time) for monitoring, surveying, and reporting writing projects in Southern Arizona, Yuma, Arizona and El Centro, California. Some of these projects involve working along the US - Mexico border. The Field Biologist plans, coordinates, and conducts natural resources-based field investigations, prepares field notes, and composes and reviews written reports. They have an extensive knowledge of the local flora, fauna, and their habitats.
Essential Functions and Requirements:
- Assists with the preparation, coordination, and review of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documents such as Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements for federal agencies.
- Plans and coordinates field studies, archival research, and report preparation pertaining to wildlife, native plants, and habitats found in the Southwest.
- Conducts Native Plant Inventories and prepares Native Plant Inventory Reports.
- Directs biological surveys and prepares Biological Assessments and Evaluations for local, state, and federal agencies.
- Conducts Preliminary Jurisdictional Delineations and prepares USACE Clean Water Act Section 404 permits.
- Works directly with interdisciplinary regulatory agency project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Performs QA/QC of technical documents.
- Performs related duties as requested.

Travel:
Travel in and out of state for extended periods of time may be required (up to 7 days at a time) for large field surveys or conferences; travel in or out of state for shorter periods of time may be required (1-3) days for field surveys or client/agency meetings. Local travel may be required for project-related tasks.
Work Environment
The Biologist will work in an office and/or remote environment and in the field, which could include low desert to high mountain elevations, over uneven terrain, at any given time of the year. Exposure to outdoor elements such as wind, precipitation and varying temperatures is to be expected.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in the biological or environmental sciences or related field.
- Extensive knowledge of local flora, fauna, and their habitats.
- Five (5) years of natural resources consulting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Federal, State, and local government environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated ability in field data collection and survey design methodologies, data analysis, and technical writing.
- Ability to pass a background check
- A valid state-issued driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in the biological or environmental sciences or related field.
- Possess a valid scientific collecting permit and/or a USFWS permit to survey for ESA listed species.
Salary : $27 - $30
