SUMMARY
As Strategic Finance Manager, you will play a central role in shaping how Tide Rock and its portfolio companies measure performance and make critical financial decisions. You will provide deep analytical insights, lead forecasting and financial planning, and support strategic initiatives that drive long-term growth across the platform. This role bridges traditional FP&A with strategic business partnering, ensuring the firm’s capital deployment and operational plans are rooted in robust financial analysis. This role is a chance to sit at the intersection of strategy, operations, and investing. As Strategic Finance Manager, you’re not just building models or reporting numbers — you’re helping leadership understand where to invest, how to scale, and what’s actually driving performance across a portfolio of operating businesses.
This is a full-time position located in Solana Beach, California.
POSITION AND SCOPE:
Financial Planning & Analysis
• Assist with annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting, and long-range planning across the holding company and portfolio businesses.
• Build, maintain, and improve financial models to support strategic decision-making and scenario planning.
• Analyze performance versus plan, highlighting key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
Strategic Support
• Partner with senior leadership and operating teams to evaluate growth initiatives, investment decisions, and operational improvements.
• Support acquisition diligence and integration analysis with detailed financial insight.
• Prepare concise, data-driven materials for executive leadership and stakeholder discussions.
Reporting & Metrics
• Develop and streamline reporting tools, dashboards, and KPIs to increase visibility into business performance.
• Ensure clarity and accuracy of internal financial reporting to support decision cycles.
Process & Scalability
• Help standardize financial processes, tools, and templates for a growing, multi-entity organization.
• Identify opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy, reporting cadence, and analytical rigor.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• 2 years in investment banking, FP&A, strategic finance, or related roles.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to build forecasts, scenarios, and operating models that support strategic and operational decision-making across the business.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and comfort working with complex financial data in multi-entity or multi-business environments.
• Proven ability to partner effectively with senior leaders and operating teams, clearly communicating financial insights and translating data into actionable recommendations.
• Confidence challenging assumptions and providing thoughtful pushback, while maintaining a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach.
• Hands-on, proactive mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a lean, high-accountability environment.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building structure, processes, and clarity as the organization scales.
