About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is responsible for overseeing the full-cycle accounting of a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strong collaboration with property management and asset management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle property accounting for assigned portfolio
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee CAM, operating expense, and real estate tax reconciliations
- Review lease abstracts and ensure accurate rent billing and revenue recognition
- Prepare journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account analyses
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Coordinate with auditors and support year-end audits
- Mentor junior accounting staff and review their work
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 5 years of property accounting experience (commercial or residential)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and property management accounting practices
- Experience with property management systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines independently
