Position Summary:
The Metal Fabricator will construct various jigs/fixtures related to the manufacturing process with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
- The Metal Fabricator works closely with manufacturing engineering team to research and develop creative and effective solutions for manufacturing and product launch projects
- The Metal Fabricator, along with manufacturing engineering team, develops methods to improve department operation and overall operation of the manufacturing process
- Weld & fabricate metal reinforcements for various production molds
- Weld & assemble a variety of jigs, fixtures used in manufacturing
- Order and maintain department supplies
Required Education and Experience:
- Knowledge of manufacturing process
- Trade school/college education - welding
- Proficient in MIG welding
- Ability to research and problem solve a variety of production issues
- Familiar with metal working tools including: horizontal band saw, drill press, MIG welder, iron worker acetylene torch, pipe bender, lathe, vertical mill, belt, grinder
- Familiar with hi-lo, hoists, and man lift
- Experience with hand tools including: drill, driver, tap and dies, files, grinder, sander, etc.
- Knowledge of basic shop math
Experience With the Following is a Plus:
- Hydraulic and pneumatic experience a plus
- Excellent team and communication skills
- Knowledge of basic woodworking machines: table saw, band saw, radial arm saw
- 1-3 years experience reading blueprints
- Boat assembly experience is a plus
- TIG, pulse, and flux core is a plus
