Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing the complex electrical systems that power our luxury yachts, from navigation and communication to onboard automation and control systems. This role involves collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure all electrical components meet Tiara's stringent safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Prepare and/or review technical documentation, engineering procedures, specifications, and drawings for shipboard electrical power generation, distribution, and control systems.
- System Integration: Design and integrate electrical harnesses, console wiring, and complete unit electrical systems, using diagrams and schematics to ensure accurate installations.
- Analysis & Compliance: Perform calculations and analysis in accordance with regulatory bodies (e.g., USCG, ABYC, specific classification societies) and company standards.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert electrical support to the production and manufacturing teams, troubleshooting issues that arise during the build process.
- Vendor Collaboration: Evaluate systems, equipment, and vendors, and manage related subcontract activities.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks to ensure all components and installations meet safety standards and performance requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
- A technical degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of marine power, control, automation, communication, and navigation systems is essential.
- Proficiency with design software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with or certification in USCG, NMMA and ABYC marine manufacturing standards.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical approach to problem-solving, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to read and understand complex diagrams, schematics, and assembly instructions.
