What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at TI Automotive?
Specific Duties:
- Moves and stores a variety of materials, parts, or products.
- Checks incoming materials and reports shortages or damaged materials.
- Operates standard manual and automatic equipment, included, but not limited are electronic scales, banding machine, and shrink wrapper.
- Stacks shipments on skids as required and take shipments to loading dock.
- Receives and unpacks materials and supplies.
- Fills orders from storage areas and delivers to designated departments.
- Checks receipt against purchase order for proper shipment, shortages, damages, or defects.
- Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage. Follows equipment instructions, specifications and manuals.
- Performs such individual assignments as the supervisor may direct; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the company, facility and department.
- Must carry out duties per ISO/TS16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.
Required Training, Knowledge and Experience:
- Possesses substantial knowledge of the plant’s processes, techniques, tools, materials, machines and equipment.
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma with two years experience in material handling that includes the operation of powered material handling equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs those tasks necessary to produce/assemble/manufacture and inspect the company’s products using assigned equipment and processes.
- Maintains equipment operating records, works from within instructions from within the standards manual.
- Maintains all work areas in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
Critical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Occasionally employees will lift to 60 pounds and frequently carry up to 40 pounds.
- Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment and machinery on a regular and continuous basis.
- Majority of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting and bending.
- May work with telephone answering equipment and PC.
- May work with Excel and MS Work.
- Climb ladders and stairs regularly.
- Works within an automotive component manufacturing and is exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals.
