What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Hardware Verification Engineer position at ThunderSoft?
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Hardware Verification Engineer with deep, hands-on experience in pure hardware validation and verification for semiconductor, SoC, and hardware products. This role focuses on silicon bring-up, board-level validation, and system-level hardware verification, ensuring products meet functional, performance, and reliability requirements. The ideal candidate is a lab-focused expert who excels at hardware debug and cross-functional collaboration, with minimal reliance on software or firmware development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hardware verification and validation efforts for SoC, silicon, and hardware platforms from bring-up through production.
- Own and execute silicon bring-up, board bring-up, and system-level validation activities.
- Develop comprehensive hardware verification strategies, test plans, and test methodologies.
- Perform advanced hardware debug and root-cause analysis using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, power analyzers).
- Validate high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, USB, Ethernet, HDMI, MIPI, and similar protocols.
- Analyze schematics, PCB layouts, timing diagrams, and datasheets to identify design issues.
- Verify power, clocking, reset, thermal, and signal integrity across operating conditions.
- Drive hardware issue resolution by working closely with design, silicon, packaging, and manufacturing teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on hardware verification best practices.
- Support manufacturing validation, yield analysis, failure analysis, and RMA investigations.
- Document verification results, defects, and corrective actions clearly and professionally.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 8 years of hands-on experience in hardware verification / validation within semiconductor or hardware product environments.
- Strong background in SoC or silicon validation, board-level testing, or system hardware verification.
- Expert-level experience with hardware lab tools and debug methodologies.
- Deep understanding of digital hardware architecture and interfaces.
- Proven ability to debug complex hardware issues across silicon, board, and system layers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced SoC architectures and multi-die or chiplet designs.
- Hands-on validation experience with DDR4/DDR5, PCIe Gen4/Gen5, and other high-speed interfaces.
- Familiarity with power integrity (PI), signal integrity (SI), and thermal analysis.
- Experience with pre-silicon vs post-silicon validation handoff.
- Exposure to manufacturing test development and production ramp support.
- Light scripting (Python, Shell) for lab automation is a plus but not required.
