5G Embedded Debug Engineer

Job Description & Core Responsibilities

Daily Work Focus

• Debugging & Failure Analysis: Majority of daily tasks focus on software failure troubleshooting, stability issues and performance debugging for new software builds.
• On-target Debugging: Perform real-device debugging to identify and resolve failures introduced by new software releases.
• Log Analysis & Root Cause Analysis: Analyze device logs to diagnose functional failures, system stability bugs and performance bottlenecks.
• Test Development & Automation: Design new test cases and develop automation scripts to replace manual test procedures, support multi-station test execution and automated failure log capturing.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with Qualcomm tools (QXDM, Qprofiler, xPCAT) to debug Modem protocol issues and Linux system issues (logcat, journal, dmesg).
• Solid 5G Modem development, testing and debugging experience (UE / Device side or Network side).
• Embedded device development experience based on Linux OS (Android, Yocto, Ubuntu, RHEL).
• Basic understanding of 5G O-RAN: architecture, signaling procedures and typical use cases.

Must-have Skills

• Embedded software development experience on ARM & x86 architecture systems.
• Working experience with Linux-based operating systems (Android, Yocto, Ubuntu, RHEL, etc.).
• Familiar with mobile communication devices (smartphone platforms) with solid software debugging and failure analysis capabilities.
• On-target debugging experience using JTAG or equivalent debugging tools.
• Experience using QXDM or similar diagnostic tools to troubleshoot device failures via on-device logs and serial logs on Linux-based embedded devices.

Education & Experience Requirement

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical fields.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience in embedded system development environments.
