Essential Position

Salary:

Summary: The Chaplain provides compassionate spiritual care and emotional support to residents, families, and staff in ThriveMore communities. This role fosters an environment of dignity, hope, connection, and meaning by offering pastoral presence, spiritual counseling, worship opportunities, and support during times of transition, illness, grief, and end-of-life care. The Chaplain serves residents of all faith traditions and spiritual backgrounds with respect, inclusivity, and compassion.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, Divinity, Pastoral Care, Counseling, or related field required; Master of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent theological degree preferred.
  • Ordination, endorsement, or certification from a recognized faith tradition.
  • Experience in counseling.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care, healthcare, hospice, or senior living strongly preferred.
  • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of aging, dementia care, grief support, and end-of-life care.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate care in emotionally sensitive situations.
  • Proficiency in basic computer and documentation systems.
  • Strong pastoral presence and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and program development skills.
  • Flexibility, discretion, and professionalism.

Essential Functions

  • Provides spiritual and emotional support to residents through regular visits, counseling, prayer, and active listening.
  • Supports residents and families during illness, hospitalization, transition, and end-of-life situations.
  • Facilitates grief support and bereavement care for residents, families, and staff.
  • Represents ThriveMore at funerals of residents.
  • Visits residents who are in the hospital.
  • Plans and leads worship services, devotionals, memorial services, Bible studies, and other spiritual enrichment opportunities in collaboration with community’s leadership team.
  • Recruits volunteers who are willing to speak for chapel services, lead special interest groups, and offer special music.
  • Coordinates and supports observances for holidays and special religious events.
  • Encourages participation in spiritual and wellness programs that enhance quality of life and community engagement.
  • Provides pastoral support and crisis intervention for family members and staff as needed.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support holistic resident care.
  • Offers guidance and education regarding spiritual care, grief, aging, and compassionate communication.
  • Builds relationships with local faith communities and clergy to support diverse resident needs.
  • Coordinates and oversees spiritual care volunteers when applicable.
  • Promotes an inclusive spiritual environment that honors all beliefs and traditions.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation of spiritual care visits and services in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Ensures confidentiality and compliance with all applicable regulations and ethical standards.
  • Serves as an ambassador of the Foundation for off-campus meetings and presentations, when necessary, as directed by Manager.
