Summary of Position:

The CAP Program Child Advancement Project (CAP) Mentor Recruitment and Engagement Specialist plays a key role in supporting and growing Thrive’s CAP mentoring program through volunteer recruitment, engagement, community outreach, and relationship building.

This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, people-centered, energetic, and passionate about making meaningful community connections. Strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, initiative, and the ability to build authentic relationships are essential to success in this role.

CAP is one of the organization’s most impactful programs in the Gallatin Valley. The program has been replicated, studied, and cited in academic journals for its success in improving outcomes for children academically, socially, and emotionally.

The CAP Program Child Advancement Project (CAP) Mentor Recruitment and Engagement Specialist will help further the success and growth of the CAP program through the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Recruit volunteer mentors through outreach to businesses, community organizations, MSU, and other community partners
  • Conduct mentor interviews, reference checks, and final screening determinations
  • Support mentor onboarding and distribute training materials and information
  • Maintain communication with prospective mentors, inactive mentors, and incomplete applicants to increase volunteer engagement and conversion
  • Support efforts to increase the number of active CAP mentor matches throughout the year

Volunteer Engagement & Retention

  • Coordinate and facilitate mentor engagement opportunities and appreciation events, including Trivia Night and Mentor Appreciation Night
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with mentors through regular communication throughout the school year
  • Coordinate CAP Winter Workshops and additional volunteer engagement activities
  • Help foster a positive, meaningful volunteer experience that encourages long-term mentor involvement

Database & Program Support

  • Maintain accurate mentor records and training documentation in Salesforce
  • Track and analyze program and volunteer data to support recruitment and engagement efforts
  • Collect and interpret data from Salesforce, school districts, and community sources to identify trends and opportunities
  • Assist with reporting and presentation of program data to colleagues, partners, and stakeholders

Community Outreach & Representation

  • Represent the CAP program and Thrive at community events, presentations, and outreach opportunities
  • Professionally serve as an ambassador for the CAP program and Thrive organization
  • Build strong relationships with schools, businesses, community partners, and stakeholders
  • Present program information and outcomes to community groups and partners as needed

Education & Experience

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Education or experience in volunteer management, community engagement, nonprofit programs, event coordination, human services, or a related field
  • Two or more years of related professional experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with children, families, schools, businesses, or volunteers preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce, Formstack, OneCause, or related database systems is a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Salary & Benefits

This position pays $27,000-$30,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required based on program and event schedules
