Private Pre-K Teacher – Bilingual Spanish/English – Hockley, TX (Houston)Role Overview

A warm, education-minded family in Hockley, Texas, just outside Houston, is seeking a private Pre-K teacher to work one-on-one with their 4-year-old daughter in a thoughtful, home-based learning environment. This is a W-2 role with anticipated compensation of $50,000–$60,000, based on experience, for approximately 24–32 hours per week.

This role is ideal for an experienced early childhood educator who loves helping young children build foundational skills through structure, curiosity, relationship, and joyful engagement. You will support the child’s growth in early literacy, fine-motor development, handwriting, independence, confidence, and overall Pre-K readiness while creating a consistent rhythm that helps her feel secure and excited to learn.

The right educator will bring a calm, peaceful, and nurturing presence, along with the energy and stamina needed for dynamic lessons, meaningful dialogue, project-based learning, enrichment, and the daily physical and emotional needs of a bright 4-year-old.

Student Profile

You’ll be working with a bright, articulate 4-year-old girl who is curious, eager to learn, and excited to begin a consistent routine with a dedicated 1:1 teacher. She has a robust vocabulary, enjoys engaging with adults, and is ready for a learning environment that feels both nurturing and appropriately structured.

The family would like to see growth in Pre-K readiness skills, especially fine-motor development, handwriting, independence, confidence, early reading, and early writing. There are no known learning differences or diagnoses. She will benefit from a teacher who can balance warmth with structure, respond calmly to big feelings, and make learning feel active, relational, and alive.

The family is supportive, pro-education, and faith-based. They hope to partner with an educator who can align with their traditional Christian values while taking the lead instructionally.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide personalized, one-on-one Pre-K instruction in the family’s private home environment
  • Build foundational skills in early literacy, pre-writing, handwriting, fine-motor development, early reading, early writing, independence, and confidence
  • Create a structured, balanced learning rhythm that includes project-based, inquiry-driven, and developmentally appropriate instruction
  • Tailor curricular materials to the student’s exact needs, interests, pace, and developmental stage
  • Work alongside a Thrive Educational Manager for long-term vision, goal setting, pacing, and curriculum support
  • Use both formal and informal assessments to monitor growth, understand what is working, and adjust instruction thoughtfully
  • Blend direct instruction, play-based learning, enrichment, outdoor/community-based experiences, and appropriate non-instructional care coverage when academic portions of the day or week are complete
  • Use the neighborhood, community, and greater Houston area as learning resources through meaningful enrichment opportunities

What Makes Someone Successful

  • You have deep experience teaching early childhood and/or lower elementary students and understand the developmental needs of a 4-year-old
  • You bring a structured, project-based, inquiry-driven teaching style that keeps learning purposeful, active, and balanced
  • You are calm, peaceful, loving, and nurturing, while still able to provide firm, kind guidance when emotions run high
  • You are bilingual in Spanish and English and can naturally support language-rich learning
  • You are aligned with traditional Christian values and comfortable working within a faith-based family environment
  • You bring energy, stamina, creativity, and presence to a role that includes instruction, enrichment, and some non-instructional care coverage
