What are the responsibilities and job description for the Private Teacher (Early Childhood + Faith-Based Learning) position at Thrive Tutoring?
Private Early Childhood Educator (Pre-K & Kindergarten, Part-Time) — Coachella Valley, CARole Overview
This role is designed for an educator who loves working with young children and knows how to make a meaningful impact in a focused amount of time.
You’ll work closely with two young learners (Pre-K and Kindergarten) in a private, in-home setting, with the opportunity to gradually include a 3-year-old. The goal is to build strong early academic foundations — particularly in literacy — while creating an engaging, structured, and joyful learning experience.
This is a part-time, high-impact role. The family is deeply invested in their children and values time together, so they are looking for someone who can come in with a clear plan, execute with purpose, and make real progress during dedicated instructional time.
Student & Family Profile
You’ll be working with two young children in their early learning years, with a third child beginning to join in over time. The children are bright and benefit from an educator who can capture their attention, maintain structure, and create a positive, engaging learning environment.
The family is thoughtful, intentional, and deeply values faith, family, and education. They previously worked with a teacher they absolutely loved and are hoping to find someone who can step into a similar role — someone who is proactive, communicative, and fully owns their work.
There is a nanny in place, and parents are very involved and present. This role is not childcare, but rather focused, purposeful instruction that supports early academic and developmental growth.
Faith is an important part of the home, and the family is looking for an educator who can naturally and comfortably incorporate Christian principles and Biblical themes into daily learning.
What You’ll Do
- Design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons for Pre-K and Kindergarten learners
- Build strong foundations in early literacy (phonics, reading readiness) and early math
- Use hands-on, play-based, and multi-sensory approaches to support learning
- Create a structured, consistent learning environment that balances fun and focus
- Incorporate faith-based learning and Biblical themes in a natural, age-appropriate way
- Come prepared with clear plans and materials for each session
- Track progress and communicate regularly with parents
- Own the instructional block with purpose and efficiency:
- Maximize learning during limited hours
- Keep lessons focused, engaging, and productive
- Ensure students are making meaningful academic progress
- Collaborate smoothly with parents and existing household support (including nanny)
- Travel with the family as needed and provide continuity of learning
What Makes Someone Successful
- You are energetic, engaging, and naturally connect with young children
- You are well-prepared and intentional — you do not “wing it”
- You take full ownership of your role and come in ready to lead
- You are a strong communicator with parents — clear, proactive, and thoughtful
- You balance warmth with professionalism (fun and engaging, with appropriate boundaries)
- You understand how to teach early literacy effectively, not just facilitate activities
- You are organized, efficient, and able to make real progress in limited time
- You are comfortable working within a values-driven, faith-centered home
- You are interested in building a trusted, long-term relationship
