This role is centered on helping a middle school student stay on track academically while meaningfully reducing the day-to-day load on his family.
You’ll work closely with one student in a highly personalized, in-home environment where your ability to take initiative, stay organized, and follow through matters just as much as your teaching. The student is bright, personable, and enjoyable to work with, and the family is respectful and values the educator as a key part of their home.
This is a blended role, combining academic support with hands-on, day-to-day household responsibilities related to the student. The family runs an organized, high-expectation home and is particular about how things are done. Success in this role comes from being detail-oriented, receptive to feedback, and able to execute consistently at a high level without needing direction.
Compensation ranges from $50,000–$65,000 annually (W2), depending on experience.
Student Profile
You’ll be working with a rising 7th grade student who benefits from individualized support, structure, and consistency. He is personable and engaging, and does best with an educator who can balance accountability with encouragement.
The primary academic focus is staying on top of school expectations—particularly in math—while building strong executive functioning skills, including organization, planning, and study habits. The student has some learning differences, including motor and visual challenges, and benefits from an educator who can adapt instruction thoughtfully and step in proactively when support is needed.
The family values professionalism, clear communication, and consistency, and is looking for someone who can become a steady, trusted presence in their son’s life.
What You’ll Do
- Keep the student consistently on track with homework, assignments, and school expectations
- Provide targeted academic support, including re-teaching concepts (especially in math) as needed
- Build and reinforce executive functioning skills, including organization, planning, and study habits
- Proactively identify gaps and step in with support without needing direction
- Establish clear routines that support independence and accountability
- Communicate regularly with parents and collaborate with an educational consultant
- Provide transportation (including school pickup) and manage related logistics
- Take full ownership of day-to-day household support related to the student, including:
- Grocery runs and snack/meal preparation
- Laundry and organization of clothing and belongings
- Maintaining clean, organized learning and living spaces
- Running errands and handling logistics that keep the household running smoothly
- Execute responsibilities with strong attention to detail and alignment with family preferences
- Provide occasional home support while the family is traveling (e.g., house sitting, maintaining routines)
- During school breaks and summer, incorporate enrichment and interest-based learning

Logistics & Compensation
- Location: Gallatin, TN (in-home)
- Schedule: 5 days per week
- Option 1: Monday–Friday
- Option 2: Monday–Thursday Saturday
- School Structure: Student attends a year-round school (typically ~8 weeks on, 2 weeks off)
- During school weeks: Afternoon-focused schedule (school pickup, homework, routines)
- During off-weeks and summer: Full-day schedule (approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM) with a mix of academic support and enrichment
- Start Date: Late May–Early June 2026
- Compensation: $50,000–$65,000 annually
- Employment Type: W2 employee
- Requirements: Valid driver’s license and ability to transport the student
- Additional Expectations: Occasional house sitting / home support when the family is out of town
- Time Off: Includes built-in flexibility aligned with the school calendar
