WHY THRIVE THERAPIES

RBTs are increasingly essential to autism spectrum support and behavioral intervention in schools, yet many struggle with inconsistent BCBA supervision, unclear treatment protocols, or isolation from the broader school team.

Thrive partners with schools to embed strong RBT-BCBA teams into the special education and behavioral support infrastructure. You'll work under close BCBA supervision with documented supervision ratios, regular treatment planning meetings, and structured data-collection protocols. If you're planning to pursue BCaBA or BCBA credentials, Thrive provides study materials, exam fee reimbursement, and flexible scheduling to support your advancement.

Position Summary

As a Registered Behavior Technician, you work under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement ABA-based interventions. You conduct discrete trial training, collect behavioral data, implement behavior intervention plans, and support students with autism spectrum disorder and behavioral challenges to achieve functional and academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement ABA-based interventions including discrete trial training (DTT), naturalistic teaching, task analysis, and prompting strategies designed by the supervising BCBA
  • Conduct one-to-one and small-group behavior sessions targeting skill acquisition (academic, social, self-care, communication) and behavior reduction
  • Collect precise behavioral data: frequency, duration, intensity, prompt levels; record observations and maintain detailed session notes
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) with fidelity, including antecedent modifications, reinforcement procedures, and consequence strategies
  • Support crisis de-escalation as outlined in student BIPs using calm redirection and environmental adjustments
  • Collaborate with special education staff, classroom teachers, and families to generalize skills across school and home environments
  • Maintain confidentiality and adherence to BACB ethical guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • 40-hour training requirement and competency assessment completion
  • Clear background check and immunization clearance per school district requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior RBT or behavior technician experience in school or clinical settings (1 years)
  • Training or interest in pursuing BCaBA or BCBA credentials — Thrive provides support
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorder and behavior-change procedures
  • Bilingual capability (Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive W-2 salary: $38,000-$50,000 based on credentials, experience, and location
  • Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision) effective your first day
  • 401(k) with company match
  • 10 days PTO paid sick leave
  • Professional development stipend ($1,500 annually) for CEUs, conferences, and certifications
