Cath Lab Tech

Department Overview

This position is within the Cath Lab department, which includes three labs performing an average of four cases per day. The typical case types include emergent revascularization, left heart catheterization, right heart catheterization, peripheral diagnostic/interventional procedures, cardioversion, transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE), devices, pericardiocentesis, and temporary pacemaker placement.

• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.


• Must possess one of the following credentials:
  
  
  
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  
  
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, which must be registered with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT). Note: If you are ARRT certified, an active North Dakota Radiologic Technologist License is required.
  
  
  
  


• Experience with IV starts is preferred but not mandatory.


• Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically EPIC, and equipment such as Philips Xper, Siemens C-Arm, IABP, Impella, Shockwave, Laser, IFR/FFR, IVUS, Rotapro, and a 4-port manifold is preferred.


• A minimum of panning experience is acceptable; scrubbing in experience is not a requirement.

• Assist in scrubbing procedures and/or panning for catheterization procedures.


• Perform IV starts as needed.


• Collaborate with a team including intensivists and charge nurses in the Cath Lab.

Regular shifts are Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with call requirements. Scheduling is managed by a team lead and is posted six weeks in advance.

• Weeknight call: 1-2 days per week, from 3:30 PM to 7:00 AM.


• Weekend call: Every third weekend, from Friday to Monday morning (24 hours).


• Holiday call: Every other holiday.

Response time for call is approximately 20 minutes.

Unit-specific orientation will consist of one week, featuring both classroom instruction and hands-on lab experience. Lead will be provided; please bring your own lock for the locker and wear hospital-designated shoes.

This position may require floating to heart and vascular pre/post-operative areas to assist as needed.

Position located in Fargo, ND.
