Three Rivers Treatment Center is seeking a strong, student-centered Director of Educational Services to lead our residential and day school special education programs.
This is a meaningful leadership opportunity for an experienced educator who understands that education in a residential treatment setting is more than instruction. It is structure. It is support. It is accountability. It is helping students experience success, often after years of academic, behavioral, emotional, or social barriers.
The Director of Educational Services will provide leadership, supervision, and oversight for the school program, instructional staff, support staff, student outcomes, compliance, and educational operations. This role is ideal for someone who can lead with both high standards and compassion.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
Oversee the leadership, administration, and supervision of residential and day school special education services.
Develop and maintain the annual master schedule for instructional programming.
Support a school culture rooted in structure, cooperation, student engagement, and growth.
Observe classrooms, review lesson plans, and support the use of effective instructional strategies.
Provide coaching, supervision, and professional development for teachers and support staff.
Ensure compliance with federal and state education regulations, facility expectations, and applicable accreditation standards.
Maintain accurate school records and student documentation.
Serve as a liaison with the Department of Education and participate in VAISEF requirements, conferences, committees, and student outcome reporting.
Collaborate with clinical, residential, nursing, case management, and administrative teams to support the whole child.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a confident educational leader who understands special education, adolescent development, behavioral support, and the importance of collaboration in a treatment setting.
Qualified candidates should have:
A master’s degree in an approved program for special education or school administration/supervision.
A Virginia Department of Education Postgraduate Professional License.
An endorsement in School Administration and Supervision or Special Education.
At least three years of experience in a psychiatric, residential treatment, or special education setting.
Knowledge of curriculum development, classroom management, assessment, instructional practices, and child/adolescent development.
Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
A valid Virginia driver’s license in good standing.
CPR, First Aid, and Handle With Care certification, or willingness to complete required training.
